By Haqdaar · Published 2026-10-17 · Updated 2026-10-17
Under the Reserve Bank - Integrated Ombudsman Scheme, 2026 (in force from 1 July 2026), you first complain to your bank or payment company. If it doesn't reply within 30 days (or a longer RBI/NPCI/card-network deadline), or you're unhappy with its reply, you can complain to the RBI Ombudsman for free within 90 days of that deadline or its last reply, whichever is later.
Steps
- Complain to the bank or payment company in writing; keep the complaint number.
- Wait for its reply, or for 30 days (longer if RBI/NPCI/card-network rules give it more time).
- File within 90 days: online at https://cms.rbi.org.in, by email to crpc@rbi.org.in, or by post to the Centralised Receipt and Processing Centre, RBI, Central Vista, Sector 17, Chandigarh 160017. Toll-free contact centre: 14448.
